This year the Eagle Academy Foundation will declare the week of May 7th as Eagle Week. The week will be dedicated to celebrating the accomplishments of the young men of the Eagle Academy and to empowering them for even greater future success. Through a series of unique events---including a day of service, professional development conference, youth summit/community day and an annual breakfast fund raiser---educators, students, parents, corporate partners and community leaders will learn the importance and commitment involved in providing quality education for inner city young men to excel.
The following events will occur during Eagle Week:
Day of Service
Service learning for 1,000 Eagle scholars to give back to their communities as agents of change.
Issues and Policies Forum
Responsible journalism: How are young men of color portrayed in the
media? Focusing on the influence the media has on encouraging confident
and progressive young men of color.
Community and Family Day
Free community event for thousands of parents, particularly single
mothers, to discuss effective strategies to positively engage inner city
young men.
Annual Professional Development Conference
Two-day education conference for hundreds of educators and school leaders
from across the country, to share proven education solutions for inner
city young men.
All-Male Youth Summit
Promoting opportunity through personal empowerment workshops as well as
college, internship and career information, with a significant emphasis on
mentoring and literacy for 3000 inner city young men.
Annual Saving Our Sons Breakfast (later in May)
An elegant affair to honor individuals and corporations who support the Eagle Academy Foundation.
The breakfast celebrates the achievements of Eagle scholars.
